The Golden Circle is an essential part of the Icelandic tourist experience and one of the most popular ones. Come along on this fun day tour.
We begin our journey by driving to one of Iceland's most legendary sites, the national park of Þingvellir. This is the original home of the Althing, the world's oldest extant parliament, and this is where the North-American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. The seam is highly visible so you can have the unique experience of standing with one foot in North-America and the other foot in Eurasia.
Next up is Haukadalur, home to hot springs that include the legendary Geysir (from which all geysers derive their name) and the still-active Strokkur. We will have lunch in Haukadalur, including some local delicacies. From there, it is only a 10 minute drive to Gullfoss (Golden Waterfall), one of Europe's most powerful waterfalls and considered by some to be the highpoint of this tour.
Our next stop is Friðheimar, an Icelandic greenhouse where you can see (and perhaps taste) for yourself how Icelanders use renewable energy to grow vegetables. On our way back home, we stop to take a look at the scenic volcanic crater Kerið and get a chance to see many examples of lcoal horses and farms.
