Kirkjubæjarklaustur & Vík village Svínafellsjökull glacier tongue Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon Seljalandsfoss waterfall Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon “Diamond” beach A boat ride on Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon (May – September)
Glacier Lagoon tour takes you to visit the charming village of Vík and continues through spectacular scenery, lava fields, and a black sandy desert all the way to the magnificent Glacier Lagoon where we will take a boat ride among the multi-shaped icebergs. You will also be able to walk between the icebergs on so-called “Diamond” beach or “Crystal” beach. This is a black sand beach at the coastline near the Glacier Lagoon and very often there are many icebergs washed up on to the beach which creates a spectacular view. We will also visit the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur, stopping to admire beautiful waterfalls along the way. Our journey continues on to Skaftafell National Park and we make a stop at Svínafellsjökull glacier tongue. As we make our way back towards Reykjavik we might be able to catch a glimpse of the eternal kiss of the Icelandic trolls along the way before we will visit the serene, beautiful 100-meter deep Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon. We will also make a stop at one of the most famous and beautiful waterfalls – Seljalandsfoss waterfall.
We will make extra stops if time allows as well. Glacier Lagoon tour is truly something you’ll never forget! Fjaðrargljúfur may not be accessible in winter conditions (depends on the amount of snow and road conditions). But other extra stops will be made. Due to fewer daylight hours in November to February, much of the driving to and from the sights will be in darkness, but the main sight of this tour – Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon will be visited during daylight.
