The Queen of Iceland! Páll Óskar is our very own disco queen that has been giving us hits constantly for nearly 25 years! He entered the Eurovision competition in 1997 and shocked everyone. He has since then continued to wow the nation with super catchy pop songs, eye-popping costumes and Freddie Mercury-like stage performance. To be honest, Iceland would be very boring without him, so do go and check him out! Go on Youtube and marvel at his amazing music videos, you won't regret it!
This is my all-time favourite bands, be it English or Icelandic. Locally known as 'Sálin', they were huge in Iceland in the 90's, they are a combination of rock and pop and have been a true household name in Iceland for around 30 years. If you ever go to an Icelandic party, you are guaranteed to hear one their songs being blasted! So go on Spotify or Youtube and look out for songs like: Hvar er draumurinn, Orignal and Sódóma.
Iceland
The real Icelandic punk-rocker turned soft in his last few albums. Bubbi was active in the punk-rock scene and had hits with bands such as "Utangarðsmenn". His music career is not bound to any one genre. His oldest stuff is linked to punk-rock, which then later goes into rock and folk music. He is a true icon in the Icelandic music scene. I recommend songs such as: Rómeó og Júlía, Afgan, Blindsker and Hiroshima.
Another household name, locally known as Bjöggi or Bó Halldórs, is one of the most popular Icelandic singers and has been since the 1960s. He was so famous back in the day, that many people broke their front tooth to look like him! He has even entered Eurovision once (1995). Like Bubbi, Björgvin has been in many other bands, such as HLH Flokkurinn. If you like genuine pop music with great ballads, then Bjöggi Halldórs is the one for you! I recommend songs like: Ég lifi í draumi, Sendu nú vagninn þinn, Í útvarpinu heyrði ég and Riddari Götunnar.
