My first choice on the affordable groceries. Here you can find affordable food and the essentials but also with good quality. When you go shopping there look for the products that have the name of the store on it, it´s the same product but not in a fancy packaging. It's a good store to go to if you are looking for an affordable stay in Iceland. The only downside is the opening hours which are not long.
Fiskislóð, 101 Reykjavík, Iceland
My second choice is Krónan. This store is just a little bit more expensive than Bónus, you barely notice the price difference. But the opening hours are longer until 8 pm and somewhere til 9 pm.
Fiskislóð 15-21, 101 Reykjavík, Iceland
This store is noticeable more expensive then Bónus and Krónan, but it has a very different variety that you don't see in the other two stores. A big plus is that this store is open 24/7.
Fiskislóð 3, 101 Reykjavík, Iceland
This store is a last resort, it is more expensive than the others. But the bigger stores like in Skeifan, Smáralind or Garðabær (to name a few) has so much variety of more than just food. They have a few stores that are open 24/7 so if you need some rain boots, toys or even electronics at 3 am they have it.
Eiðistorg, Reykjavík, Iceland
